PRP - Platelet Rich Plasma

(vampire facelift....but don't let that put you off)

What is PRP?

PRP stands for Platelet Rich Plasma – this is a procedure using the patient’s own blood to heal and rejuvenate the skin.

The patient’s Platelet Rich Plasma stimulates the patient’s cells to regenerate the skin’s connective tissue, resulting in accelerated healing.

It also improves the elasticity, tone and thickness of the skin and contributes to the remodelling of collagen fibres.

What does the PRP treatment involve?

A small amount of blood is taken from your arm, a little like having a blood test, and is placed in a centrifuge machine. Here the machine separates the platelet-rich plasma from the rest of the blood.

PRP is a biological product prepared form patient’s own blood and along with the medical device the treatment is inherently safe and free of transmissible diseases (eg HIV or Hepatitis)

The plasma is then used to treat areas for skin rejuvenation being rich in growth factors and proteins essential to speed up tissue repair and regeneration.

Is PRP the secret to healthier revitalised skin?

PRP treatment uses your own plasma in your blood to promote healthier, rejuvenated looking skin. This treatment is extremely popular with athletes and as such helps to heal tendons, ligaments and muscles, however it is also a great anti ageing treatment that helps to stimulate changes beneath the surface of your skin. This treatment produces collagen and renews skin cells leaving your skin looking and feeling refreshed. This is a fantastic anti-ageing treatment which uses the best parts of your blood to keep you looking great.

What are the benefits of having a PRP treatment?

Having a PRP treatment is a fantastic way to rejuvenate your skin compared to other treatments that may be more invasive. This non-surgical procedure delivers outstanding results for the skin on your face but also on your body.

It will help with:

Ageing skin – fine lines and wrinkles

Dull and lack lustre looking skin

Mature skin

Deep wrinkles

Dehydrated skin - leaves the skin looking refreshed and vibrant

Thin hair

Loss of hair

What is the difference between the Platelet BLUE and the Platelet GOLD?

The Platelet BLUE is for deep lines, wrinkles and air tissue.

The Platelet GOLD has added hyaluronic acid (HA) which adds hydration to the skin. This leaves your skin instantly hydrated resulting in a fresher overall skin texture and tone, giving a brighter appearance.

The Treatment process

Your first treatment will concentrate on your own specific areas of concern, i.e around the eyes or nasolabial folds.

The second part of the treatment is followed by a full face dermapen microneedling with the remainder of your plasma. This is put onto your skin and by using the dermapen, pushes the plasma deep into the skin.

How many treatments will I need?

The number of treatments required depends on the overall outcome you wish to achieve, but a course of 3 treatments is recommended to achieve desired results. Maintenance may also be beneficial 6-12 months after last treatment. In your free of charge consultation, I will discuss the different options we offer here at Kallista.

TESTIMONIAL

I first had this treatment at the beginning of June, with my next treatment on the 2nd August. This is my honest opinion of this treatment. It's one not to be missed!

Having had 2 PRP treatments, I was amazed at just how quick the recovery period was. Although leaving the clinic you are slightly red faced with a few little bumps on the skin, it amazed me how quick this went down.

After the initial treatment your skin is left feeling tight but if you have the Platelet GOLD

with the added hyaluronic acid (HA), this soon disappears.

I have been lucky enough to try both Platelet treatments, the BLUE and the GOLD. My recovery time with the GOLD platelet, which has the added HA, was significally quicker for me than that of the BLUE. Although the Platelet BLUE was a great treatment, I just personally found the Platelet GOLD after a couple of weeks gave me a brighter, fresher look.

The downtime for this treatment is a lot quicker than you may think. Within 2/3 days you couldn't notice any marks on my face at all and I was able to wear make-up, albeit a light powder.
