Tear Trough Treatment

What is it / how does it work

A dermal filler is a substance that mimics the body’s own Hyaluronic Acid (HA). They are manmade and non-animal.

Our skin naturally produces HA when we are young, keeping the skin hydrated and elastic.

Tear trough rejuvenation is a non-surgical treatment which reduces the appearance of dark circles, restores loss of volume and brightens and rejuvenates the sunken area. This can also reduce the appearance of excess skin.

What can it treat

In the lower eyelid and in the cheek area (the “mid-face”) a loss of soft tissue volume tends to accentuate the appearance of the lower bony orbital margin which lies between the lower eyelid and the cheek. This also leads to the appearance of lower eyelid fat pockets and together these can lead to a “tear trough” depression, or dark shadow or hollow.

How is it performed

At Kallista Aesthetics we use a small micro cannula to give precise injections of dermal filler along the eyelid hollows to reverse the effects noted above.  Some patients may not be suitable for this procedure and may need alternative methods to treat their tear troughs.  This can also be used in synergy with cheek dermal filler injections to achieve a desirable look. We will advise the best method for you at consultation.
